Privacy Policy

The short version. Your test answers never leave your browser. The score and the category breakdown are worked out on your own device, and we have no accounts, no email list and no database of answers. The only thing you can send us is your score plus an age range, and only if you press the button that asks for it.
This policy covers ricepurity-tester.com (“Rice Purity Tester”, “we”) and describes what the site actually does today, checked against its code.
What happens in your browser
When you take the Rice Purity Test, every tick you make stays in the page. JavaScript on your device counts the ticks, subtracts them from 100, picks your score band and builds the per-category breakdown. None of that is sent anywhere.
When your result appears, your browser also fetches the current anonymous averages from our server for the comparison bars. That request sends nothing about you or your answers, though like any web request it arrives with your IP address (see server logs below).
The downloadable result card is drawn on your device and saved straight to your downloads. It is never uploaded.
The optional anonymous stats
Under your result there is an optional box to add your score to our public statistics. Nothing is sent unless you pick an age range and press “Add my score anonymously”.
What is sent and what is kept
Exactly two values are sent: your score (a whole number from 0 to 100) and the age range you picked (18-19, 20-22, 23-25, 26-29, 30-39 or 40+). The server adds one to a counter for that score in that age range. That tally, 6 age ranges by 101 possible scores, is the whole record. No answers, no IP address, no submission time, nothing that sets your entry apart from others with the same score and age range.
How we stop spam without storing IP addresses
The server allows 3 additions per network per day. To count them, it combines your IP address with a random value created fresh each day (a “salt”), runs the result through a one-way SHA-256 hash and keeps the first 16 characters next to a counter. Your IP address itself is never written down, and the hash is used for nothing else.
The hash file and its salt belong to the current day (UTC). The first request to the stats feature on a later day (adding a score, or simply loading the averages) deletes the previous day’s files. To be fully open about it: while a day’s salt still exists, someone with access to our server could in theory test IP addresses against the hashes. That is why the salt changes every day and is thrown away with the hashes.
What gets published
The live numbers on the average score page show how many entries each age range has. An age range’s average and median stay hidden until it has at least 30 entries, and the same 30-entry rule applies to the overall figure.
Share links
“Copy score link” makes an address like /#s=74. It carries your score only, not your answers.
“Compare with a partner” is different. It opens the couples page with an address ending in #a= followed by 17 characters that pack in all 100 of your yes/no answers. Anyone who has that link can decode it back into your full answer list, so treat it like the answers themselves and send it only to someone you would show them to.
In both cases the part after the # is never sent to our server, because browsers do not transmit that part of an address. They do travel wherever you paste them, under that app’s own privacy policy. For how this compares with other purity test sites, see Is the Rice Purity Test safe?
What your browser stores
We set no cookies. The site saves two small items in your browser’s localStorage, which stays on your device and is not sent with web requests:
| Key | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
rpt-cookie-consent | “accepted” or “declined” | Remembers your cookie banner choice so it is not shown on every page. |
rpt-stats-day | A date, such as 2026-10-23 (UTC) | The date you last added a score to the stats, so you are not asked to add it twice that day. |
Both stay until you clear your browser’s site data. The cookie policy explains how.
Server logs
Our hosting provider, like every web host, may keep standard access logs: IP address, the page or file requested, date and time, browser type and the referring page. They exist to keep the site secure and running, are kept under the host’s own retention schedule, and are never used to profile visitors or combined with the stats.
Third parties
There are none today. Our fonts are self-hosted. No analytics, no advertising, no social media widgets and no tracking pixels run on this site.
If we add analytics or ads later (for example Google Analytics or Google AdSense), the site is already built so those scripts stay switched off until you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, they never load. We will update this policy and the cookie policy, naming each provider, before any of them goes live.
Children
The test asks about sex, drugs and the law, and is meant for adults 18 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 or at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children (in practice, the test collects none from anyone).
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, data protection law (GDPR and UK GDPR) gives you rights to access, correct and delete personal data about you, and to object to how it is used. California’s CCPA gives similar rights. We respect them all. The honest catch: we hold no personal data tied to you. Answers stay in your browser, a stats entry is one anonymous tally mark, and the rate-limit hash is short-lived, so there is nothing we can look up to give you or erase. You are still welcome to contact us.
For the record, the stats rely on your consent, while the rate limit and server logs rely on our legitimate interest in honest numbers and a secure site. We do not sell or share personal information, and we run no targeted advertising. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Questions? Write to hello@ricepurity-tester.com. See also our terms of use.
